I have confirmed that leaving Menu -> System -> USB -> Routing set to `Standard` lets me to record to my DAW from the SY-300 over USB as expected. I expect synthesized sound to be sent from the SY-300 to my DAW over USB, but recording it just captures silence.ĭo I have the right expectation here? Am I trying to use re-synth mode correctly? Habe mir den EZ Drummer von Toontrack und Reaper zugelegt. But I can't hear any synthesized sound from these jacks, only the dry track.ĥ. Hallo Zusammen, hoffe es kann mir jemand weiterhelfen Ich nutze aktuell das AXE FX2 über Yamaha Studioboxen zuhause und würde mich jetzt gern mehr mit dem Thema Homerecording beschäftigen. The clean guitar track can now be heard coming out of the SY-300 from the `SUB OUTPUT` and `MAIN OUTPUT` jacks, so it is making it to the unit. In my DAW, I hit the record button, which simultaneously plays the existing dry guitar track into the SY-300.Ĥ. In the SY-300 I set Menu -> System -> USB -> Routing to `Re-synth`.ģ. I want to play this into the SY-300 over USB and record the synthesized SY-300 output to my computer.Ģ. I have a track of dry guitar already recorded in my DAW. I have the SY-300 connected to my computer via USB. I tried contacting Boss customer service, but I haven't gotten a response.Ġ. There is little documentation about this online. I have found when I do this that I often don't need very much when it comes to mix time.I've been trying to get re-synth mode to work without success. The tape is the thing wraps it all together and glues it into a nice package for mixing later.

I just have found that tape last in the chain when tracking does sound the best to me for this reason, since all the other stuff is being fed into the input of the tape, which adds that extra saturation or "mojo" into that input. Its nice because then you get the special sauce going into. Put an FX loop right off the input in a parallel path, and then dial in the rest of the signal path.

Of course, you can put things wherever sounds best to you! There are no rules in the digital realm any more. Hey Gasp, Im pretty sure youve already sold your Axe, so I dont know how relevant this is for you, but thats the same way I set up my patch for reamping. So, when you are tracking and put the Studer last in the tracking chain, then you don't need it when you are mixing, where you might normally put it first. If you are mixing afterwards, conversely it usually makes sense to put it first in the chain in your DAW, since in the old days you would be mixing FROM tape and adding additional EQ, comps, FX, etc. This chain pretty much always sounds excellent.Ĭlick to expand.Yes, if you think of it like you were tracking in the "old" days to tape, your signal flow would look like this: amp > mic > preamp/EQ > compressor > tape machine so, the most natural sounding place to put the tape would be last in the chain.

I will usually also stick a Studer at the end of the Console chain too. If I want a clean, funk sound then this would usually be an 1176 instead (for a Nile Rodgers sound). With something like a Tweed sound, it could be a good choice.ĭepending on how dynamic the part is, I might stick a Distressor next in the chain just kissing the peaks. I personally find the 610s to have too limited of headroom for most things and don't always like the driven character they impart on most things, since it's just a little too much for me, but if you are going for a really old sound, then it could work. If it's super clean, then I might use the V76 or SSL, but I would say it's 75% 1073, 20% Helios and 5% anything else.

Most of the time it will be a 1073, but for more vintage rock stuff, I like the Helios. Which preamps depends on the sound I'm going for. But I use the XLR outs of the Kemper to the XLR ins of the Apollo and go into some Unison preamps.
